Official Name: Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART)

Official Website: event.hktdc.com/fair/hkfilmart-en

Date: 2022/03/14 - 2022/03/17

FILMART, hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, is one of the world's major film markets and film co-production centers in Asia. Over the years, producers, distributors, investors, and key people of the industry have made FILMART an ideal inter-media trading platform.

To boost the international visibility of Taiwanese film and TV works and increase transnational co-production opportunities, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) is bringing 64 companies and 199 Taiwanese titles to the 2021 Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) and Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF). Commencing from March 14, the exhibitions will feature an online Taiwan Pavilion presented by TAICCA to showcase Taiwan’s latest film and television content to global buyers and investors. TAICCA will also be actively promoting Taiwan’s International Co-funding Program (TICP), which aims to increase exchanges between industry professionals from Taiwan and other countries, explore opportunities for international co-productions, and enhance the production value and global exposure of Taiwanese content.

A total of four Taiwanese projects have been selected to HAF this year. Selected to the In-Development Project (IDP) section include Malice, a former participant of the TAICCA SCHOOL X EAVE Ties that Bind international co-production workshop; The Hanging Sun, a Hong Kong co-production directed by SHIH Li. and I Might Write About Us, a co-production with Taiwan by Hong Kong filmmaker Jun LI, whose acclaimed Drifting earned 12 nominations at the Golden Horse Awards last year. Selected to the Work-in-Progress (WIP) section is Little Blue, a recipient of an Excellent Screenplay Award and production funding from Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture. All four selected projects will be competing for funding support at the event.

Apart from the film projects selected to HAF, the Taiwan Pavilion will also be showcasing a diverse range of other film and television content under the support of the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development (BAMID). These include QUARANTINI, a collection of short films about pandemic isolation by cutting-edge new directors; 1819, a documentary produced by Golden Horse Award-winning director YANG Li-chou; The Mirror, the latest VR project from WU De-chuen, winner of Best Animated Short Film at the 2021 Golden Horse Awards; Show On: an Influencer's Rise to Her Hot Hot Fame, a new series from the production team behind the award-winning Little Big Women; -197°C, a sci-fi action comedy series that reunites stars Roy CHIU and Ivy CHEN; Dee’s Talk, the first OTT variety show hosted by Dee HSU (Xiao S); and the widely popular sports competition program All Star Sports Day.

The 26th FILMART will be held online from March 14 to 17, while the 20th-anniversary edition of HAF will run online from March 14 to 16. For more information, please visit the FILMART and HAF official websites and Taiwan Pavilion Online Catalogue.
