【Foreword】
With a vision of exploring the business model of DOME Exhibition, TAICCA collaborates with FilmGate Miami and the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science (hereinafter referred to as “Frost Science ”) and The Frost Planetarium on the “2025 Innovative Co-production Program: Dome Projection”with joint resources to support Taiwanese creative teams in producing profitable cultural technology content that can be showcased in the venue for proofing and broadening the international market and develop a sustainable business model.

 

【About the Partner】

  1. FilmGate Miami is a Miami-based non-profit organization dedicated to the development of film and new media. It actively supports local content creators and organizes the annual FilmGate Interactive Media Festival, which attracts numerous key industry professionals from across North America.
  2. Frost Science is a leading science and education institution in Miami, dedicated to promoting the integration of technology and the arts. It attracts over 700,000 visitors annually. The Frost Planetarium will serve as the exhibition venue for this program, offering high-end facilities including 8K projection and surround sound systems.

 

【Eligible projects】
The program features two submission categories:

  1. “BBL Drizzy The Musical Co-Production Exhibition” category:  will select one Taiwan-based team to collaborate with international partners in co-producing a dome projection performance inspired by hip-hop culture and futuristic sci-fi themes. The selected team will serve as core creative members of the project and participate in key areas including: Creative Direction & Production, Audio & Sound Design, 3D Environment & Visualization, Motion Capture & Interaction, and Technology & Engineering. The optimal duration of the final work is within 35 minutes.
  2. “Taiwanese Original Content Exhibition”category: will select one Taiwanese original project proposal for development into a DOME theater exhibition. The theme of the project is Symbiotic Futures, exploring the coexistence of humans, technology, and the environment. The project may involve adapting an existing prototype or creating a completely new work. The optimal duration of the work is within 20 to 30 minutes.

 

【Project requirements】

  • The proposal shall include: a description of the theme, creative motivation, and production specifications, along with a 3 to 5-minute English video explaining the concept, production intent, and technical details of the project.
    • The proposal should be based on BBL Drizzy the Musical and include the applicant’s motivation for participating, sources of inspiration, and suggested production approach or specifications. Supporting documents or files that illustrate the project are also required.
    • The proposal should be based on the theme Symbiotic Futures, with no restrictions on subject matter. However, proposals that incorporate Taiwanese elements, either in theme or production, are preferred.
  • Business Model Plan: Applicants must propose a business model plan for the showcase content, which should at least include market analysis, selling point, target audience and marketing plan etc.
  • Introduction of the Production Team: The introduction shall include the following points of the production team: Past experiences and achievements of the proposing team and co-production team (if any); and describe the tasks and contents that each team is responsible for respectively.
  • Production schedule planning: The project schedule can include the completed progress of the proposed work, as well as milestones, work tasks and deliverables of future planning.
  • Budget and Funding plan: This list should specify all the expenses and how many percent of funding is in place. Please clearly indicate the source of self-financing.
  • International distribution plan: Should explain details such as the exhibition or performance plan, platform launch or channel promotion plan, and provide a description of the strategy adopted and implementation method.
  • Proposals with existing international partners in collaboration are preferred, and the collaboration is not limited to co-funding or co-production.
  • The proposal should be submitted in both Chinese and English respectively, with each version not exceeding 40 pages.

 

【Eligibility of applicants】

  • Companies, sole proprietorships / partnerships, or profit-making entities that are registered under Company Act and Business Registration Act of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) laws.
  • The applicant must comply with the provisions of Article 5 Paragraph 1 of the Program and must not have any of the relevant circumstances described in Article 5, Paragraph 2.
  • Only one proposal per program is allowed, and each applicant (i.e., the same entity) can be selected for only one project in total.

 

【Grant and resources】

  • Grant limit: One project will receive a grant of NT$1.8 million (including tax, approximately USD $54,545). The actual amount will be approved by the Review Panel and announced officially by TAICCA.
  • Applicants must provide part of their own funding based on the scale of their proposals. There is no maximum limit on the proportion of the supporting funds, but the amount of self-provided funds must not be less than NT$1 million (including tax, approximately USD $30,303).
  • Resources provided by international partners include support for venue, equipment, technical services, ticketing system, on-site operational staff, marketing and promotion, and other related needs.

 

【Revenue Sharing】

  • During the official exhibition period, the total revenue, including but not limited to ticket sales, private bookings, and sublicensing, shall be distributed as follows: 60% to the Partner, 20% to the Approved Applicant, and 20% to TAICCA.

 

【Notification】

  • The approved applicant must finish the production of the full proposal plan and launch the showcase / exhibition before December 31, 2025. They shall submit the files for project closure before January 31, 2026, including the production records file of final work and the finance report. The formal exhibition and public ticketing period must be completed by February 28, 2026. The operational period is expected to last for at least 7 days, with the actual schedule and sessions subject to the collaborating partner’s announcement.
  • The Approved Applicants should submit a project results report (including business model verification results) to TAICCA within two months after the conclusion of the official operation period. If the report is not submitted within the specified period, TAICCA reserves the right to reclaim the disbursed second installment and suspend the applicant.

 

【How to apply】

  1. Application Period: From now until May 27, 2025, 17:00 (GMT+8, Taiwan Time). (Submission time will be based on the timestamp recorded by the online application system.)
  2. Application Method: Please register on the online application system and complete the application form. All required documents must be uploaded within the designated period.
  3. Announcement of Results (Tentative): The final approval list will be announced in June 2025.
